Kreidersville
bridge has got to be one of the best maintained bridges in the state. The bridge
is usually adorned with flowers at one end, this end has an entry way lined with
bricks. The bridge has a bench barrier which stops any traffic except by foot.
The landscaping around the bridge does it justice.. On one side of the
bridge there is a gazebo where you can sit and just take in the beauty
of the surroundings...This is a must see bridge. The structure was built
in 1839 with a Burr truss, it owned and maintained by the county. The
bridge crosses Hokendauqua Creek, the length is 96 ft. and the width is
18 ft...The location of the bridge is on Township Route 473, just east
of Kreidersville Road, in Kreidersville, Allen Township. This is the
only remaining covered bridge in Northampton County and is also one of
the oldest remaining covered bridges in the state. The bridge is in
excellent condition and a true historical structure that our state can
be very proud of.
