
Harrity (Bucks) Covered Bridge

Harrity Bridge

Harrity was built in 1841 by Paul Buck and
utilizes the Burr arch design. The bridge is located on dry land in Beltzville
State Park. It is only traveled by foot traffic. The structure is 66 feet long
and 13 feet wide. The bridge is owned and maintained by the State of
Pennsylvania. The bridge is in good condition.
During the building of the Beltzville dam
in 1970 to create a lake and state park recreation area, the bridge was located
on Pohopoca Creek (the water source for the lake). If the structure was left at
this location it would have been flooded by the lake. The bridge was move to
it's present location at the lake recreation area by the Corps of Engineers.
Everything original was left intact for reconstruction. It definitely adds
beauty to the park...

Little Gap Bridge

Little Gap was built in 1860 and uses the
Burr arch design. It crosses the Aquashicola creek in Little Gap. The bridge is
73 feet long and 15 feet wide. The County owns and maintains the structure. It
is in good condition and opened to daily traffic. The bridge is located on
Twp. Rt. 376 on the southern edge of Little Gap in Towamensing Twp
